Marco Novara is a freelance photographer and a graduate student in Photography and Media at Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT).
An interest in social issues, globalization, immigration and environmental pollution are the basis of his practice, which reflects an attempt to understand how individuals conceive life and adapt in contemporary society. His attempt to understand and document different cultures and realities brought him to travel to Europe, the Americas, India and North Africa.
His influence is the legacy of documentary photographers such as W. Eugene Smith and James Nachtwey, who have valorized photography as social informant. At the same time the work of artists such as Edward Burtynsky, David Meisel and Mishka Henner is an inspiration for contemporary and future practice.
